Japanese Unryushi paper, also known as Unryu or “cloud dragon” paper, is a distinctive Japanese washi characterised by long, flowing fibres dispersed throughout the sheet. Most commonly made with Kozo (paper mulberry), these fibres create an organic pattern with a natural sense of movement and depth.
The fine paper base has a light, translucent quality, allowing light to pass through while highlighting the longer fibres within the sheet. Each sheet has its own subtle variation, as the natural distribution of fibres creates an individual pattern rather than a uniform surface.
Available in a range of weights and finishes, Japanese Unryushi paper is suited to collage, printmaking, bookbinding, stationery, card making, paper craft and decorative projects.
