Lokta paper has a long history in Nepal, where it was traditionally used for Buddhist manuscripts, religious texts and important records. Its naturally strong, flexible fibres give the paper excellent durability, while the handmade process creates a distinctive tactile surface with subtle variations from sheet to sheet.
Made through traditional processes of soaking, boiling, beating and forming the fibres by hand, Nepalese handmade paper retains a beautiful organic quality. Its natural ivory tones, textured surface and varied finishes make it well suited to bookbinding, stationery, journals, drawing, printmaking, collage, card making, wrapping and paper craft.
