INGRID CARDAK

Ingrid Cardak is an origami artist whose practice explores the intricate and meditative world of tessellation origami. Through precise folding techniques and a deep sensitivity to material, her work transforms paper into complex geometric structures that balance repetition, movement, and sculptural form.

Inspired by the work of Japanese origami artist Tomoko Fuse, Cardak has developed her practice through extensive study of tessellation techniques and geometric folding systems. Through the interplay of light, shadow, and repeated geometric patterns, Cardak’s tessellations evoke both architectural precision and organic movement. Her practice highlights the versatility and expressive potential of handmade paper while presenting a contemporary interpretation of traditional origami techniques.

Ingrid’s growing contribution to contemporary paper arts has been recognised through being shortlisted for NGV Top Arts.
