A shūgi-bukuro, also known as a celebratory gift bag, is a traditional Japanese envelope used for giving money as a gift of celebration. This special envelope expresses gratitude or marks significant occasions and milestones. It is crafted from a single sheet of beautiful paper, and inner envelope and adorned with a mizuhiki ornamental knot.
To use the shūgi-bukuro, unfold the outer part, and place the inner white small envelope (with the money) in the middle of the outer part. Fold the other part to its original state. Make sure the lower flap goes on top of the upper flap. Secure it with the mizuhiki then write your name on the paper strip and insert it behind the mizuhiki and secure it with double sided tape.
