Nepalese Lokta paper is handmade by local families in Nepal and is fair-trade classified. It is an eco-friendly paper made from the fibrous bark of the Daphne Shrub or Lokta Bush. After harvesting, the plant completely regenerates to full maturity again within 4-5 years, making it a source of continuous supply and has no effect on forest ecology. These beautiful papers support both the ecology of the and the village economies.

Each sheet of Lokta paper is handmade with a mould and deckle frame and each sheet is hand dyed or hand screen printed. As Lokta paper is handmade, there are irregularities which add to the beauty of the paper.

Lokta is a unique and durable paper suitable for a wide range of artistic uses. It is also has great preservational qualities as it is resistant to insects and humidity.
