Japanese Awagami paper is produced by Awagami Factory in Tokushima, a renowned Japanese washi producer with eight generations of papermaking heritage. The collection brings together traditional Japanese fibres and contemporary paper making techniques, offering a diverse selection of washi papers for artists, printmakers, bookbinders and paper makers.
Made using natural fibres including Kozo, Mitsumata, Gampi, bamboo, hemp and abaca, Awagami papers range from fine, lightweight and translucent sheets to stronger papers designed for fine art and book arts. Many varieties are acid free and developed for applications including printmaking, drawing, painting, bookbinding, paper craft and alternative photography.
The collection also includes distinctive speciality papers such as Unryu, Kinwashi, Gampi Kozo and natural fibre papers, each offering its own combination of texture, translucency, strength and surface character.
